A lot of us feel better nature by adding bird feeders inside our backyard. One in the problems related to bird feeders will be the unwanted guests how the bird feeder may attract.

Opossums (possums), along with all kinds of other species seem to have a built-in GPS that knows the place of each and every bird feeder inside neighborhood. you could try this out make nightly house calls to completely clean the seeds that birds have scattered on the floor under the bird feeder.

Although possums convey more teeth (50) than another North American animal, they generally acquiesce to raccoons, and often will often fight with skunks over those discarded bird-seeds. Some of the nighttime skunk odors you smell are a result of those skunk and possum confrontations.

As these nocturnal animals go to and from your bird feeder, from time to time their route will need them across the foundation your property. They may visit to your ac for any drink of water in the condensation pipe on the unit. That’s when the real trouble begins.

Many air conditioning units have openings in the frame where the machine sits. Animals can squeeze through these openings and gain access into your crawlspace. Now they have a safe home to live, next to a water and food source.

Over time, as fleas multiply on these animals some with the fleas will start to surface over the floor and to the house. Many times those fleas are the results of a possum or other animal in the crawlspace.

Now onto a few with the more unpleasant possum problems. One is odor. Possums will exude an extremely unpleasant green secretion at times of distress which is a significant smell to behold. Possums also have a very very short lifespan. Whether it’s a design flaw, bad luck or maybe plain deficiency of intelligence, possums live on average only 24 months inside the wild.
